Thank you so much to families that were able to join us this past Friday for our Meet and Greet in the Peace Garden. Our classroom is up and ready for the 2018-2019 School Year. We are looking forward to sharing so many new practices with the students this year after a long summer of Montessori training and reflection. This year's goals and changes: - Foster excitement and intrinsic motivation through the oral storytelling of the Montessori Great Lessons -Utilize our new science equipment on a weekly for botany, earth science, zoology, and chemistry experiments thanks to a small grant from the Chicago Foundation for Education and explore the Peace Garden to begin more authentic inquiry - Build student understanding of their own personal identities and histories to develop a larger connection to their role in the world - Develop skills of critical consciousness in the work of social justice and Anti Bias education - Nurture student independence and increase work stamina and focus - Encourage community problem solving in class meetings and circles
