Our Learning Approach
Montessori Method
Students in our classroom learn through the Montessori Method for Lower Elementary aged children. Our class is purposefully mixed ages (6-9 years) so that our students learn with and from one another. They build a caring and nurturing environment that breeds support rather than competition. Students interact with a holistic curriculum daily, exploring their natural curiosities about the world around them in the subjects of language, writing, mathematics, cultural studies, zoology, botany, geography, astronomy, and handwriting. Information is presented through storytelling to stimulate interest and illicit imagination. Children can present their learning through research and art projects chosen by the student. Students have freedom within a carefully organized structure. One may observe children moving freely about the room, working in small groups. As we say, students are free to work, not free from work!
